The Marlins are on the road for six games with the first three being against the Nationals.  Hanley is back in the lineup, Woo Hoo!  Now, I sure his knee is still a little sore but is, obviously, good enough to go.  Also, Nick Johnson has played against every team in the majors with one exception, the Nationals. that, of course, will change after tonight's game.

Josh Johnson is on the hill for the Fish.  Really, does any more need to be said.

Martin is a rookie who will be making his four start overall and his first against the Marlins.  Martin is basically a fast ball (87.7 mph), cutter pitcher but he will mix a curve and a change in there from time to time.

Ichthyomancy is still tarmac lagged, but is ready.  Oh, for Ichthyomancy purposes, it is JJ and NJ.

Best of Luck to You!

This strikezone looks awfully inconsistent thus far

It seems like the right side of the plate is a toss-up as to whether the umpire is going to call it or not

Guess he didn't get the memo saying....

we are doing speed and defense this year – not home runs

by craig on Aug 4, 2009 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

His OPS is now 603...

… while batting 167.

Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

I've got JJ on my fantasy team...

…and right now, I really wish they kept hitting stats for pitchers.

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

by 3.3seconds on Aug 4, 2009 8:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Brickell has him in my league as well. He might wish the same as he’s only in 7th place

by HadMatter on Aug 4, 2009 8:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Could you slot him in at Utility maybe?

But that would discount his pitching performances. Would certainly be an option when he’s a Yankee in 3 years though.

Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

He'll rake in yankee stadium

when we beat them in the WS again

Not cool...

Sorry about calling you out Brickell

by HadMatter on Aug 4, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow, Nick Johnson does not look impressive out there.

I mean, he looks impressive in the sense that he’s gotten on base a lot so far. But physically… I can’t recall the last time I saw a position player who looked less like an athlete. Was he that overweight before the injury? (If nothing else, he was probably less balding.)

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

What's that make the Reds

with whom they are tied?

by BacksThePack on Aug 4, 2009 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Or how about...

The Padres, Nats, A’s, Indians, Royals, and orioles, who ALL have worse records than Pittsburgh?

Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

by BacksThePack on Aug 4, 2009 8:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Over the last 10 games they are 3-7,

same as the Orioles, Mariners, and Astros, and better than the 1-9 Reds(who the Pirates CAUGHT in the standings after the trades). There are plenty of bad teams, I just don’t think the Pirates are heads and shoulders the worst.

Go Nevada Wolf Pack!

Hey, it's worked for the Marlins in the past.

We seem to be doing better at hanging onto SOME of our guys these days, but given the lack of finances the Pirates are constrained by, there are worse teams to emulate than the Marlins…

…though of course, that strategy kind of requires that you can identify good prospects when you see them.

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

by 3.3seconds on Aug 4, 2009 9:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yes, it did work for us

But not before we went 54-108 in 1998

by Bumppo on Aug 4, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Poor Fishcrazy...

he makes a statement in jest and then this happens

by craig on Aug 4, 2009 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

JD Martin...

On the day JD Martin was called up to the majors, the Nationals also called up Logan Kensing, put Scott Olsen on the DL, and released Julian Tavarez. That’s a lot of former Marlins…

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

Coghlan's growing on me.

He needs to get back to second base, though… he’s not a plus hitter for a LF.

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

I love JJ

But I think he would have came out after the first base hit

Your sig here.

by miramarjuice on Aug 4, 2009 9:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That's a mighty quick hook

He had just retired 20 straight

Yeah I know

But that was my gut feeling. Then I said the same thing you just said convincing myself otherwise.

I didn't get the feeling until the third hit

Leaving him in for the double was too much

by Bumppo on Aug 4, 2009 9:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

how many times can we say it

PINTO SUCKS – He needs to be cut, or DFA’s or anything to get the F rid of him

by jrsyeagle on Aug 4, 2009 9:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This wasn't at all Pinto's fault...

He got out his man, a run just happened to score with it

by Bumppo on Aug 4, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow

what has happened to our bullpen?

by LadyFish on Aug 4, 2009 9:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That was horrific

And stands as the second most sickening inning of the year so far…right after the collapse in Baltimore (which we won, so after the ninth my unofficial ranking might change)

by Bumppo on Aug 4, 2009 9:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nah

that was god awful, but the phillies comeback against Lindstrom was the worse.

I think i know what the cubs fans felt like Sunday

that gets my vote too

I think that call that selective memory
