Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Mets at Marlins (8/27)
New York Mets at Florida Marlins, Aug 27, 2009 1:10 PM EDT
Breakout the brooms Florida because the Marlins are going for the sweep.
Anibal Sanchez looked great in first outing since returning from the DL. Here is hoping he will continue along that path. The funny thing is that in the past Anibal has had vampire tendencies and has not done his best work during daylight.
Tim Redding will be making his second start since returning to the rotation after a stint in the bullpen. He had a nice outing in his last start one hitting the Phillies for five innings. He is also a creature of the night.
Ichthyomancy is still hating day games.
Best of Luck to You!

Yep. It sucks. And I've only got the audio.
Kinda glad I don’t have to watch it.

I get the pleasure of watching Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez
Whom I like generally, they’re probably the best announcers in the game, but not when the Marlins are losing

An ugly play by the Mets for once
Much more to my liking

Andddd another
You should have seen Coghlan digging around for that ball in left, he looked like some kind of mole

I'm normally not a Fredi hater (Save that for Pinto/Hermida)
but how the heck are you a manager in the middle of a playoff push giving up on a game in the fifth inning? The bullpen is well rested right now and the Hopper is ready to be called up. Martinez gives up 4 runs in an inning and you let him hit with a RISP and pitch another inning? Wow.

I don't blame him
Down seven runs with two outs in the fifth, I would like to get some length out of Martinez and not waste a good pitcher. According to Fangraphs that cost us .006 wins. It’s not like we were down 4-3.

Look on the bright side...
At least this time, Anibal didn’t give up 6 runs in the first to the Mets
by Fishcrazy on Aug 27, 2009 3:07 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
it just seemed there was no movement on his pitches at all
80-90 mph straight line to home

Uggla homers.
I wonder if he can get to 30 by year’s end. Or if he can get his average over .250 by year’s end. Impressive that a guy hitting .180 a month into the season is now at .243

If they've given up on the game
like it seems Fredi did in the 5th, Gaby should stay in the game…

finishing that thought...
double switch style, take Hermida out…

only 1 start though in what... 2 weeks?
by jrsyeagle on Aug 27, 2009 3:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
well, if he wanted to play more, he would've hit 3 homers in that one start.
So clearly, he hates baseball and doesn’t want to play.

Bonifacio on the other hand, loves baseball
His strikeouts are just a sign of his devotion.
