John Baker getting better?

John Baker gives his two cents about his back.

Catcher John Baker was not in the lineup Wednesday, one night after being removed from Tuesday's game because of a stiff back. He is hopeful he can play in today's 1:30 p.m. matinee.

Baker said he felt the pain - which is in the left side of his lower back - two weeks ago but it "started acting up" Tuesday.

"We're just being smart," he said.

Why in the world would you have him catching in a day game, assuming he is good to go, just like I would believe anything he has to say about being physically able, when the next off-day isn't until September 7?  Sure catching a night game and followed up by a day game isn't going to be easy on Paulino but re-tweaking the back will land Baker on the DL.
