Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Mets at Marlins (8/26)
New York Mets at Florida Marlins, Aug 26, 2009 7:10 PM EDT
The Marlins are going to try and remember how to close the deal when it comes to recording a series win in the second game. Something they have forgotten how to do of recent.
Johnson takes the hill for the Fish and is looking to get back on track.
Pelfrey is on the mound for the Mets and is looking to build on his last two starts where he only allowed 2 runs in each game.
Ichthyomancy is incredibly behind.
Best of Luck to You!

THAT'S what happens when you waste opportunities
You get burned the next inning.

It's a good thing
since he may be playing a lot with Baker hurt.

Beinfest makes a clear, decisive statement about long-term contracts for JJ, Nolasco
From the Herald:
“I don’t think anything has really changed as far as long term (contracts to pitchers),” said Beinfest. “We’ve always been open. It’s not something we’ve ever ruled out, and we’ll go case by case. I think there is some recognition by the organization that pitchers can be risky because they do get hurt, maybe at a higher rate than a position player. But that doesn’t mean necessarily we would rule out.”
So that definitely means…wait…what?

That means we'll trade them
Just like we did Beckett, Burnett, and Willis. Not to mention Pavano and Penny and Dempster and Clement and Livan Hernandez before them.

that's completely untrue!!
Pavano walked as a free agent.

So did Burnett now that I think about it
But that doesn’t change the fact that we failed to sign any of them

yes, but we used the money we saved to buy loria a very nice painting.

Let's be fair
We bought something for John Henry with some of that money

Mets broadcast went to commercial
I could tell Manuel wasn’t going to pull him, I don’t know why they couldn’t

A solid start from JJ
Not too bad, but man, when was the last time a starter went for 7 innings?
