Chad James still unsigned

The Marlins have yet to land their first round draft pick, Chad James, but they aren't alone in that.

With the deadline to sign 2009 draft picks coming up at midnight Monday, the Marlins and first-round pick Chad James, a left-hander out of Yukon (Okla.) High School, remain far apart. If James does not sign, he has committed to attend Oklahoma State.

Just six of the top 22 picks have agreed to deals. The Marlins selected James 18th, where the estimated slot recommendation is $1,422,000. Major League Baseball dropped its recommended bonus figures from last season 10 percent across the board. ...

If James does go to Oklahoma State, he won't be eligible for the draft again until his junior year.
