Kiko Calero returns

Kiko Calero will rejoin the Marlins for tonight's game and Tim Wood lost his spot on the roster at very inopportune time.

Rookie reliever Tim Wood's homecoming plans in Tucson were spoiled when he was sent down to New Orleans to make room for reliever Kiko Calero, who will rejoin the team today in Phoenix for the series against Arizona.

Wood, a Tucson native, was solid in three outings, not allowing an earned run in 7 2/3 innings. Calero was 1-0 with a 2.01 ERA in 36 games before going on the DL June 21 with right shoulder inflammation.

"There's always an injury on the horizon, so if that happens he has impressed us enough where we would feel comfortable to bring him up," Gonzalez said.

Once again, it will be good to have Kiko back, but the timing couldn't be worse for Wood.  Oh well.  This stuff happens.  Welcome to life on the third rock from the Sun.
