Burke Badenhop and Fredi Gonzalez Suspended
Burke Badenhop and Fredi Gonzalez were suspended by the league.
Florida pitcher Burke Badenhop has been suspended three games and Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez was penalized one game after trouble this weekend at Dodger Stadium.
Major League Baseball issued the penalties Monday. Badenhop also was fined, as was Los Angeles pitcher Jeff Weaver.
Badenhop's suspension will begin Tuesday night unless he appeals. Gonzalez will sit out the game against Atlanta.
No word on whether they will appeal. If they don't, that means that Johnson, Nolasco and VandenHurk will need to pitch deep into the games against Atlanta. Johnson and Nolasco are probably going to anyway, but VandenHurk could prove iffy.

Can we all agree?
That Weaver and Torre should have gotten the same penalty. It was clear that they were pitching as inside as they could get away with.

Torre doesn't get penalized
It’s just the way it goes. Fair or not, I can’t remember the last time he was suspended for something.

I'm just glad we did something
Don’t know if Fredi said something to Hopper, doubt it… But I like it.

two minors notes, since there's no game today
Penn: 3.0 IP, 8 H, 2 Ks, 7 ER (3 HRs) — but no walks!
And in Jacksonville, Stanton and Morrison went back-to-back in the first inning.

Nah, he's just showing all the young pitchers how to pitch dead-center

I'm beginning to think we should have traded Hermida to the Natinals and kept Willingham
Two grand slams tonight. Actually I’ve thought that since the deal happened but now I’m justified. His three hits tonight also raise his average to .300.
or they should have traded neither and not gotten bonifacio.
i guess hammer’s back, age and contract status made him expendable. at the time, hermida still had “potential.” guess we know how that worked out.
I didn't really mind the Bonifacio trade at the time
I could see Olsen was on the downswing, and you know at least one cost-cutting move is made every year.
I was pretty disappointed when we lost Hammer
I’m glad to see his having a good year, 16 HRs and like you said a .300 average.

I hope this sparks the team
We just stood up to the best team in the league. Not to mention taking 2-3 from them, well actually we should have swept them.
