Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Diamondbacks (7/10)
Miami Marlins at Arizona Diamondbacks, Jul 10, 2009 9:40 PM EDT
Game two of the series features an excellent pitching match up.
Nolasco has been lights out in his last five starts, getting the win in the last four. Over that period Ricky has a 1.85 ERA, struck out 42 and only walked 4.
Haren is an All-Star and there is a reason for that, he is flat out good. We missed him when the Diamondbacks were in Florida so this will be the first time this year for the club to see him.
Ichthyomancy is ready for another all-nighter.
Best of Luck to You!

for once, the Mets stupidity actually hurts us.
All the Church/Francoeur trade does is make Atlanta better. That much is clear. But considering the Mets will eventually get their stars back healthy, we also know that they’ll be better late in the season than they are now. So from the Marlins perspective, all that has happened is the division getting that much closer. This has the strange result of making the Marlins appear better off in the standings while also decreasing their playoff chances. On the face of it, one could make the argument that there’s no choice now but to be buyers; but perhaps more than ever, that will likely be a losing game. Tough waters for the FO to navigate.
Marlins Stadium: When It's Raining, The Roof Will Happen!
sharpest observation of the night:
a little while ago, when Nolasco had already allowed 4 runs through 3 2/3, Tommy says, “Nolasco isn’t as sharp tonight.”
All I can say is,
thank god we don’t get Marlins telecasts out here and we have a AAA team. Gamecasting the Marlins every night would kill my poor heart before I even managed to graduate college. I love the Marlins, but don’t think I can take the blows of watching every game like this, especially when everyone out here are Giants fans and won’t shut up that their version of Andrew Miller was an error away from a perfect game.
Points
The attendance for the game was 21,307.
The attendance point goes to Spud.
Players earning a point: none
AAB points: unsurprisingly no one’s pick hit.

Spud +1
Congratulations to Spud!
