Marlins - Fox Sports Charity Auction
The charity auction once again is front and center, and as usual we will be bidding.
FOX Sports Florida and the Florida Marlins Community Foundation will host the 2009 FOX Sports Florida Fantasy Auction, Presented by Tommy Bahama on Tuesday night during FOX Sports Florida’s telecast as the Marlins host the Baltimore Orioles. For the fourth consecutive year, FOX Sports Florida and Sun Sports, the exclusive regional television home of the Marlins, will host a special on-air auction giving viewers and those at the ballpark the opportunity to bid on nine packages beginning at 6:30pm with FOX Sports Florida’s Marlins LIVE pre-game show.
FishStripes will be bidding on the suite experience.
FOX SPORTS FLORIDA SUITE EXPERIENCE: Enjoy a 12-person catered suite during the Marlins vs. Phillies game on July 17 along with a visit by Special Assistant to the President Tony Perez, Billy The Marlin and the Marlins Mermaids. Reporter Frank Forte will also stop by for a live interview during FOX Sports Florida’s game. This package includes an exclusive press box and broadcast booth tour for four guests and a dozen new official baseballs.
Which may be the only way to experience a Marlins-Phillies game without wishing that the Marlins pitchers would start plunking some guys. Then again, come to think about it, it really wouldn't matter the geography of the seats, the desire would be the same. But at least, the lucky few wouldn't have to hang around Phillies fans, which is always a plus.
This is fourth year of the auction and we have yet to win it, but we are still going to try. If someone ponies up $50 and hangs around Rich and Tommy for the auction and becomes their BFF, email me and take your cell phone to the game. My fifth-hand insider information is that the best way to win anything is to have a live person near the tote board. Don't know if that is true, but after a three-year losing streak, I'm ready to believe anything.
The auction is for a very good cause, and that is the most important thing. Of course if we win, that would make it even better.

Forget Charity :)
Use it to buy some better talent… We’ll probably receive from that one auction as much as 10 of our players make in one season.
Album coming soon

Incidentally, how does this bidding thing work? Who’s actually putting up the money for “us” to bid? Do we all contribute? Or is this what craig uses our membership fees for? I knew there had to be a reason why craig required me to PayPal him $2,500 at the beginning of the season. Though I must confess that “craig” doesn’t sound like a Nigerian name.
