Saberizing a Mac

Seeing how Justin Long was in the stadium, presumably, for Sunday's home game, it only seems proper that we link to a set of posts from Beyond the Box Score about Saberizing a Mac.  And mostly for free.

Saberizing a Mac.

At home, I'm a Mac user and this series of posts is very enlightening. So if you use a Mac too and are into the stats game, I say check them out.

Once again

something that could have been brought to my attention before I bought a PC

the whole point of Sky's Mac series

is that it’s a lot easier and far better documented for PCs. Database software just isn’t as widely available for Macs, and Microsoft Access, which seems to be the program of choice for most saberists, isn’t available at all.

Right. Our project has two goals:

One, to help Mac users do everything a PC user can do. PC users should check out Colin’s two tutorials that I’ve linked from many of the Saberizing a Mac posts.

Two, to help everyone of every tech ability (include those of you who would consider yourselves having zero tech ability) to do whatever level of number-crunching you’re interested in doing. On any computing platform.

I had ZERO experience with SQL queries before I started this project. I now have a historical database set up and have written some queries. While they’re “basic”, it actually doesn’t take much beyond a basic query to get stuff done. Go check out all the articles if you’re interested. Start from the beginning and ask questions. There are both experts and beginners who are just one or two steps ahead of you willing to answer them.

Yeah, I have a mac...

but that crazy SQL stuff is a little bit too nerdy/complex for me haha
I never paid attention in the Management-Info-Systems (MIS) class I had to take for my accounting major. But I am kind of wondering what exactly saberizing is? lol

While we are on the subject on macs and marlins, does anybody know how to watch marlins game online using tvants? I have tried before but it is complicated.

P.S. streaming on my iPhone? whhaaaaaat? I am gonna have to try that… THANKS HURRICANE!
