Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Brewers at Marlins (6/2)
Milwaukee Brewers at Florida Marlins, Jun 2, 2009 7:10 PM EDT
There is glitch in the system, which maybe me, and I am having trouble posting anything but open threads. The crack SB Nation tech team is on it and it should be fixed shortly. However, if you see some random posts later tonight, that is just me trying to figure out how to run this thing. All will be well soon.
Anibal makes his return to the starting rotation and probably won't pitch very deep into the game. No problem, the Hopper is set to take over after Anibal is through.
Parra is a lefty whose fast ball is around 91 mph, but he throws as many off-speed pitches as he does anything.
Ichthyomancy is looking for win number two in the series.
Best of Luck to You!

Not going to make the obvious joke...
Swine flu hitting Mets?
PITTSBURGH — An unnamed member of the Mets New York Mets ’ traveling party is in isolation at a Pittsburgh hospital with a possible case of swine flu, the team revealed today.
The person is part of the SNY broadcast crew — a producer, according to sources — that travels with the club.
Along those lines, Carlos Beltran Carlos Beltran is not at PNC Park and will miss his third straight game with a stomach illness, although at this point the Mets think he is suffering from a gastrointestinal virus and not swine flu.
Beltran missed two games last week with a brusied tibia, then after playing a full game left Saturday’s contest at Citi Field with the stomach problem. He has not played since.
More to come …

Hold it....that could be the problem....
I exchanged emails with a producer for SNY to set up an interview before the Mets series and now I can’t post. Interesting.

KLaw has been peeking at craig's notes...
New mock draft has the Fish taking Chad James, after previously having them down for one Rex Brothers.

I don't think the Marlins will take Brothers....
if the Marlins do take a college pitcher it will probably be Arnett.

40 pitches in a scoreless inning
that’s what you would call effective, but not efficient

10 runs and 11 hit through 4 innings
When the last time the Marlins won a laugher (yes, I know this game isn’t over yet, but I’m thinking they hold this lead)

8-2 Victory at the Cubs on the last day in April
other than that, 12-6 opening day. Wow, no real ‘laughers’ yet this season. Let’s hope that ends tonight now!

3 straight 3-hit games for Hanley
means he’ll try to tie the Marlins record tomorrow night. None other than Mr. Cody Ross put together four straight last year, but all in Coors.

more streak fun
Hanley now has two 3-hit streaks, tying him with JP and Chuck Carr for second-most in Marlins history. But he still has a ways to go to catch the leader: Luis put together five such streaks, including two in 1999.
