Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Chinese Water Torture

I coached Little League, and the continuing antics of the Fish remind me of nothing so much as a team of inexperienced kids.  I keep coming back to the feeling that Joe Girardi would not have put up with as much sloppiness as seems to be the daily routine for these guys.  The Marlins need to have a nice long drill involving calling pop-ups, for but one example.  Anyway, my Big Idea is for true Fish Fans, whenever they see Loria at games, to yell "SHUT UP!" in the loudest possible voice every time the effete lying turd opens his mouth.  I actually wish that whenever Loria has public contact with any regular people (a rare occurrence I'm sure) for him to be told to SHUT UP.  I don't think we should blame Fredi for being who he is, it would be nice to have that kind of nurturing presence around IF there was a Manager that insisted on discipline and Playing The Game Right.  You can hardly blame (for instance) Bonifacio for the stupid things he does, he's a rookie and that' stuff's going to happen.  You just hate to see him doing the same thing repeatedly.  It seems to me that the Marlins' problems have always started at the top, and ownership seems willing to exchange the pursuit of wins for field management that consists of Company Men.  Anyone out there agree with my perspective?

I'm angry too, but...

I don’t know who to blame. Some days I think it’s Fredi for making retarded moves. Others it’s the players for not making routine plays. Others it’s the front office for not making moves period, or just not ones that make any kind of impact whatsoever.

It’s really a combined problem, but it does start with our salary. I agree with you that the ownership and management need to step up. Step and open their wallets. It’s hard to field a team who is solid in all three phases of the game when you don’t pay anybody shit. When we start actually spending a little more money, we would have a more well-rounded team. Players like Bonifacio, Maybin, and Baker wouldn’t have to be up here yet. They would be in the minors where they could refine their skills.

So I say, start praying the management starts paying.

Album coming soon
