Hanley Ramirez HBP ado -- over

Fredi announced that the Hanley Ramirez hit by pitch thing has been handled.

"I have spoken to all parties involved and that’s it," Gonzalez said. "We took care of it internally. There’s no need to follow up."

Fair enough, that is the way it should be handled.

Fredi also apologized to the media for going off on them.

"I want to apologize for my tirade," Gonzalez said. "I know you guys are trying to do your jobs and everything. I try to protect my team. I’m like a big bear with baby cubs I guess."

Interesting analogy.  So I guess everything is back to normal.

I think my tolerance of Fredi has ended. While he may be a good clubhouse guy, and keeps these guys in line, his decision-making is horrendous. It’s been like this forever. While Badenhop got no earned runs, he still gave up everything that Volstad left on. Volstad is a 22 yr old kid pitching for the first time in Fenway. Let him work his way out of it and don’t kill the bullpen for the treachorous stretch we have left. Bonifacio needs to hit from only one side of the plate. And keep Cantu on the field. He’s pretty good at first base and Gload is a great pinch hitter, so keep him as the DH. Everything he does goes against conventional wisdom. I think I’m ready for a change.

I'm not gonna disagree with that...

I know I am not an MLB coach, but I will never understand a lot of Fredi’s moves.
I can’t remember how many times I have disagreed with what he did in a situation.
I mean he learned from Bobby Cox and look at his track record recently.
I’m not trying to say Cox or Fredi are horrible coaches, just behind with the times.
Living in Tallahassee right now, I see a lot of Rays games and one thing always sticks out.
Joe Maddon is a very intelligeny, creative, and most importantly “ballsy” manager.
I have come to really respect what he is doing with those Rays.
I prefer a coach like that any day of the week.
