Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Brewers at Marlins (6/1)
Milwaukee Brewers at Florida Marlins, Jun 1, 2009 7:10 PM EDT
OMG, they changed up the blogging platform while I was gone. This may take a bit to figure this thing out. Since I'm still getting back into the swing of things and I haven't had time to do any news research, not that I would know how to post it if I did, go read our good friend Photi, I'm sure he has the latest and the greatest at Fish Chunks.
Two things about my trip: the ballpark the Rangers call home is simply beautiful and my nieces are way too nice and way too intelligent to be related to me.
Anyways, back to the game at hand, the Brewers are in town for a four game set. So let's put the month of May behind us and focus on the future. (In case you were wondering, May Sucked!) But as I said that is behind us.
Big Game Andrew takes the mound for the Marlins. His control is still a little hit and miss, but for the most part has looked pretty good since coming off the DL. Miller has been throwing more change ups recently and it has been effective, when the defense actually plays....you know....defense.
Suppan last two starts were pretty rough with him giving up too many long balls. However, that doesn't mean he has forgotten how to pitch. He throws about as many breaking balls as fast balls. Hopefully, he will hang a bunch of them tonight.
Ichthyomancy is ready to start a new month.
FishStripes will, hopefully, return to normal tomorrow. That is, if I can figure out how to work it.
Best of Luck to You!

if you have to walk somebody, at least make sure that the bases are loaded.

First pitch swinging
yea it worked yesterday, but you can’t get away with that all the time….
Suppan at 51 pitches though!

Meaningless stat of the night:
Uggla has 36 hits and 34 RBI
His average may not look pretty, but at least he makes every hit count

The grass must be wet. Hardy was rubbing that ball that he bobbled all over his jersey pants to dry it off before throwing it back to the mound.

but how about an extra base hit

but then the bases wouldn't be loaded for Uggla

That whole Milledge thing lost its mojo when the first results came out last week. He didn’t even crack the top 15. We suspect Selig at work. Manny is being Manny right up there, though!

quick search:
most runs in a game (since 1954) without getting an XBH?
16! Royals 16 – Blue Jays 12 (August 6, 1979)
11 runs in the 7th! 8 singles, 4 walks, one reached on error.
