The Marlins are fortunate that their part-timers -- Amezaga, Carroll, and Gload -- have made positive contributions, because the starters have really been horrendous.  Ross, Maybin and Hermida have combined for a -14.5 UZR, with Ross being the biggest issue at -8.0.

Sometimes I find our reluctance to embrace new stats quirky, fun, and almost classic,  but this is n example of the team not realizing the extent of the 2008 defensive woes and not making the moves to correct the problems it didn't know it had.
