Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Phillies (5/27)

Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies, May 27, 2009 7:05 PM EDT

The Marlins are going to try that series win thing again tonight.  Supposedly it will be a little warming tonight in Philly.

The Hopper takes the hill and hopefully brings his good sinker ball with him.  Even if he is on fire, he won't last long in the game and will probably be on a pitch count.  If he can go four decent innings, that is all you can ask.  The Hopper is the 10th pitcher to start this season for the Marlins.  Maybe 10 is a lucky number.

Myers has found his groove recently and is pitching very well.  He throws mainly fast balls(89 mph) and curve balls(77 mph) with a slider mixed in and a show me change.

Ichthyomancy is looking for a series win.

Best of Luck to You!

Apparently if the catcher can catch it, it's a strike tonight.

Which is great, because we don’t have enough problems with the normal-sized strike zone.

Following the usual Wed game on gameday

seems like the ump is all over the place, and the Phillies are hitting some good pitches.

Bang!

Myers couldn’t hold the Fish down for long, he is an extra-base hit waiting to happen.
Hold the lead bullpen!

Myers grimacing

I couldn’t tell if Myers was seething at his own performance or had some physical pain afflicting him, but he sure looked like he was grimacing as Charlie and his gut waddled out to the mound.

No sympathy here

Our best hitter isn’t in the lineup and our pitching has been banged up too.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope he isn’t injured and has to miss time, I never wish ill will on anyone, but too bad if he is.
Guess that was what the ‘injury delay’ was on gameday. They never tell you who it is unless they leave with an injury

by Fishfins on May 27, 2009 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions

No, Charlie Manuel headed to the mound for the 2nd time in that inning and motioned for the right-hander from the bullpen. Myers walked to the dugout with his head hung down and might have still been making funny faces, but it was a regular pitching change as far as I could tell.

I just got home so I’m still getting situated, maybe something happened that I didn’t see.

NatsTown rocks Santana

Johan (Carlos) Santana walked in the tying run in the 4th inning. How the Natinals loaded the bases in the first place remains a mystery.
