Fish Wrap - Marlins 5 Phillies 3
I just got my connection to the net back, and I hope it holds in there. This will be the shortest good game recap.
Chris Volstad had a good start, when Howard wasn't hitting moon shots, and the bullpen was excellent.
Wes Helms was a part of every run scored by the Marlins either by driving them in or scoring them. It was a fine night for Wesley and he gave the Phillies faithful a reason to exercise their vocal cords.
All in all, it was a fine evening.

I posted this in Fishfan's Coghlan fanpost,
but if you don’t read the Sentinel’s Marlins blog, it appears Fredi may be using Coghlan at leadoff more often. If so, Coghlan will have some pretty big shoes to fill. (That is, assuming you like your leadoff hitters to strike out on bunts, fly out constantly, and have little to no impact on the game.)
Coghlan vs. Bonifacio
Do you think Coghlan will be more effective than Boni at scoring a runner from 3rd with less than 2 outs (either by laying down a bunt or hitting a deep fly ball (hell, or even grounding out to the right side of the infield)? And even if he is, what about Boni’s speed?!! His speed I tell ya! And defense! Speed and defense!
for the sake of stats:
Coghlan at the plate with a runner on third and less than two outs: 3 PAs, 3 Rs (100% success)
Bonifacio at the plate with a runner on third and less than two outs: 8 PAs, 3 Rs (37.5% success)
Coghlan at the plate with a runner on second and no outs: 2 PAs, 2 advancements (100% success)
Bonifacio at the plate with a runner on second and no outs: 12 PAs, 5 advancements (41.6% success)

I knew Boni was bad but not THAT bad! That’s been my biggest criticism of his so far this year, his not being able to bring’em home in situations when any professional baseball player must the majority of the time. That’s pissed me off much more than his general suckiness.
