Scott Proctor out for the season

I think it was Dan who mentioned this in the open thread, but here it is:  Scott Proctor will have Tommy John surgery and will be out of the game for, oh about, 18 months.

The news was not good for Marlins reliever and Stuart native Scott Proctor. After seeing orthopedic surgeon James Andrews in Alabama today, Proctor has decided to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the season.

When it finally gets to the point that the Marlins send a player to Alabama, good news rarely follows and this time was no exception.  The outcome of the visit comes as no surprise.

The Marlins took a chance on the coin flip of whether Proctor would be able to pitch this season and called heads:  the results were tails.

I just hope they didn't insure his contract with AIG.
