Jorge Cantu is just bruised

Jorge Cantu was examined by a specialist and it turns out he just sustained a bruise.

1B Jorge Cantu saw a hand specialist in South Florida. The team got good news — no fractures or ligament tears in his left hand.

“Just a bruise. Nothing major,” manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “Nothing wrong with the wrist or the cartilage or the bones and he’ll join us Friday.”

But that doesn’t mean he’ll play Friday. The Marlisn are leaning toward resting him one more day.

“He’s a tough son-of-a-gun,” Gonzalez said. “He wants to get in there but we’ll maybe give him an extra day.”

So no Cantu until Saturday, maybe.

If it is Saturday, so be it, Helms and Gload are doing all right fielding the position.  That said it will be good to have Jorge back when he is ready.
