a day at the ballpark? That's for suckers.

the only real way to enjoy a ballgame is watching a website’s box-score refesh. Now that’s excitement!

no, no, no....

carry on. I’ll check in between innings. In a way it was nice to know something good was going to happen and having the suspense of waiting to see what it was.

looks like I checked in just in time for Kawakami leaving...

109 pitches, eh? So for my AAB to hit, it has to be between 107 and 111 degrees. Somehow I doubt it. Hotlanta my expletive deleted.

Another good outing by Anibal.

even though it appears he was all over the plate (100 pitches, only 55 strikes). Just wait’ll he builds up his endurance again.

Jupiter picking up the slack...

Since the big league bullpen decided to go off-script and give up just one hit today, one Blake Jones of the Hammerheads decided to even things out.

Bottom of the ninth, Jupiter up 3-1 (after having scored two in the top, making up for walks and errors allowing Fort Meyers to tie the game in the 8th). Enter Blake Jones to close it out.

0 on, 0 out: single
Man on first, 0 out: single
First and second, 0 out: sac bunt
Second and third, 1 out: hit by pitch
Bases loaded, 1 out: double, 3 RBI
Game Over.

Three hits, one HBP, only out by sacrifice. Now that’s more like it.

A Fun Thought

Ripped off completely from USS Mariner, but it applies to the Marlins pretty much equally.

If you thought the Marlins were a .500 team (or 81 wins), they are in line to finish with 84.5 wins now.
If you thought the Marlins were a .463 team (75 wins), they’re in line for 79 now.
If you thought the Marlins were a .525 team (85 wins) like last year [giving them the win in the unplayed game], they’re in line for 88 now.

Basically, the 8-1 start means you can add 3 or 4 wins to your expectations, without making any change in the reasons you have those expectations. It doesn’t matter whether the fast start is “for real” or not; it happened.

"3 or 4 wins"

As you can see by the examples, basically if you pegged them for 82 wins or more, add three; if you pegged them for 80 wins or less, add four.

Combination

Like most of my Specials, it’s got a second level, namely that Q And Not U is (was?) a minorly acclaimed band from, yes, DC.

And of course, the first level is that it’s not a bad AAB pick.
