Livan Hernandez vs Ricky Nolasco

W-L G GS CG SHO SV BS IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP
2009 - Ricky Nolasco 1-0 1 1 0 0 0 0 6.0 7 5 5 1 0 6 7.50 1.17

The undefeated and best record in baseball Marlins take on the Mets once again.

Today's game will be known by many names since it is where the Super Saturday concert  takes precedence over the baseball game.  (And most of them won't be flattering.)  If you live in Florida and you want to follow the action live, you will be listening to the radio.  'Cause you won't see it on your television.

Nolasco will be making his second start of the season.  In the first he didn't look bad he just didn't have his normal command.  Ignore the ERA, it jumped up when the official scorer decided Bonifacio's play in the field was a hit instead of an error.  Apparently Bonifacio takes the official scorer out to dinner more than Ricky does.

The Mets activated Livan for the start today.  So this will be his first start of the season.   Hernandez, historically, pitches very well in JRS and with his bionic arm he is hard to get out of the game if he is going well.  He normally throws a fast ball, slider and change and none of them very hard.

Icthyomancy is ready and will be listening to DVH.

Best of Luck to You!

60mph from Livan

I used to know the physical limit on how slow you could throw a ball and still make the strike zone, but that has been pushed out of my brain for whatever useless facts I’ve recently learned.

MLB.com audio problems?

Anybody’s Florida audio go all haywire just now? Had to switch to the Mets audio.

i had forgotten how junkball pitchers mesmerize our lineup.

and thank goodness ESPN GameCast now has horrible video ads every half-inning. I was worried that there might not be a way to make a crappy service worse, but ESPN never fails me.

I’m getting a little tired of seeing Ross bat

by Pgammons12 on Apr 11, 2009 7:42 PM EDT reply actions

Carroll isn't doing much better.

I’d like to wait for Cody to get through this instead of ushering in the Gload Era in right.

by Fishcrazy on Apr 11, 2009 7:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, who do we have who’s better? Carroll is a great fielder who has a .400 career OPS… as far as hitting goes, he’s a pitcher. Strictly a defensive replacement. Gload’s OPS was .664 last year, and he’s older than that now. Amezaga (when he comes back) is borderline decent, but in a decent OPS/no power kind of way; we’ve already got Bonifacio and Maybin to do that. Helms — can Helms play the outfield? — is decent against lefties, but Ross has always been better against lefties anyway.

Basically, I don’t think we have any choice but to give Ross a long leash out there, because he’s been okay before, and nobody else has.
