Marlins sign Carlos Vasquez

The Marlins inked Carlos Vasquez to a minor league deal.

In addition, the Marlins also signed left-hander Carlos Vasquez to a minor-league deal. Vasquez is coming off a World Baseball Classic run with Venezuela, allowing two runs on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

---

Vasquez, 25, spent last season in the Red Sox organization and split time between high Class-A Lancaster and Double-A Portland. He has yet to reach the majors.

Nothing against getting another minor leaguer, especially if he is just insurance or someone to fill out the roster.  But let's face it, Vasquez is 25 and is still bouncing around between A and AA ball.  Of course, being a lefty he will be given every chance to prove he can't perform.  That said, I really don't see him adding much of nothing to the major league club anytime soon.  Or maybe ever.
