Game Today

The Red Sox are coming to Jupiter to play the Marlins.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Anibal Sanchez.

The Red Sox will have Michael Bowden toe the rubber first.

Game time is 1:05 p.m.

In WBC action:

Korea v. Venezuela, 9:00 p.m., ESPN

The WBC is in the semifinals, meaning if you don't win, the tournament is over for you.

In March Madness, there are a bunch of a games today.  Last night was good to me in my brackets.  I had Cleveland St., Siena, Arizona, Dayton, Maryland, Wisconsin, Western Kentucky and Michigan winning.

(For full disclosure: I waited until almost midnight last night to fill out my brackets.  Cheating? Yeah, you bet.  But my new system workout well for me.)

Have a Great Day!

I don't know what's more surprising...

Cleveland State winning, or craig getting a day game thread (on a weekend no less) up before first pitch.

Burnnnn hahaha

But of course, they’re just now getting under way, what with the rain and all. Ain’t that always the way…

I would have to say that me getting a day game thread up is more surprising...

counting this year, Cleveland State has only been to the dance twice, and in each appearance they have won their first round game.

And then there is me with day game threads which are always late, year after year after year……

Spring training jinx

Anibal 0 H through 4 IP

Although Jason Bay is the only Red Sox major leaguer in Jupiter today.

Hey Dan...

That was some serious analysis about Uggla and Bonifacio. I, for one, feel edumacated. (And you have to love any analysis that begins, “Besides Bonifacio being terrible…”)

However, I also noticed this comment:

I also took Morgan State over Oklahoma, just because there wasn’t any pass interference in the 03 Fiesta Bowl. Yep, still upset about it.

Uh, shouldn’t that mean you picked Siena?

P.S. That call is the greatest sports fraud since the 1972 Olympics U.S.-Russia basketball game. And did you notice that no one ever mentions that UM finished the Fiesta Bowl without McGahee, arguably their best player? Don’t you think that if Clarett had gotten hurt in the 4th quarter, that would’ve been the story of the game? And if UM had won after Clarett’s injury, all the doofus sports pundits would’ve said it was somehow a lesser or tainted win?

Ach, yes, Sienna/OSU...

Wrong overrated “O” team on my mind. Though I guess in theory I could have taken Morgan State in advance of what will likely be a rough game early next season.

As for the McGahee injury, it’s such a terrible combination of circumstances… not only did it happen in the 4th quarter of a National Championship game, it happened in the one year that there wasn’t overlap between the ridiculous Edge/Najeh/Portis/McGahee/Gore years, due to Gore’s knee surgery. If there was ever a period that any team could “afford” an injury at RB, it was Miami back then — except for 02/03. No offense to Jarrett Payton, but, well, having Frank Gore be the one to finish out the game might have changed things just a little.

Bah, whatevs. Here’s hoping for the fulfillment of the University of Miami-Northwestern talent.
