The Florida Marlins released Harvey Garcia bringing down in the major league camp number to 52 players.
The Marlins released right-handed reliever Harvey Garcia on Monday, bringing their roster down to 52 players.
Garcia missed all of 2008 after having rotator cuff surgery on his throwing arm.
I can't remember whether Garcia was one of those on the 40-man roster with an asterisk by his name. (Meaning he was sort-of on the 40-man but he didn't count being on the 60-day DL or not.) I guess it really doesn't matter.
After the surgery Garica was never able to regain velocity or control.
Shoulder surgery is tough and not everyone can rebound from it.
The Marlins 40-man roster stands at 37 for the moment which no doubt means the club is planning on adding some names to it in the very near future.
Naturally, we wish Harvey the best.
