Pudge...at 1B?

I know I might be beating this dead horse but i think the talks are stating to heat up again because of the WBC thats is to be played in Dolphin Stadium...

CHeck out this article on espn.com http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3978657http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3978657

i quote ""There has been some communication between the Marlins organization and my agent. It would be a nice place. It would be nice to see me with a Marlin uniform again, but we have to sit down and discuss and see what happens."

Lets bring the dude in...but I say not ONLY as a catcher

WHat about 1B? Dude is solid as hell defensivly, sure he could pick balls better then Jacobs considering he has done it for 15 years behind the plate at +90mph.

Just a thought but I wouldnt mind having both Baker and Pudges bat in the lineup - considering that Gaby is laying one hell of a bug egg this spring and McDallas looks nothing more than a lesser Jacobs....

what do you all think??

Pudge Rodriguez

I am sick of hearing about Pudge. The Astros owner is the only one who has so far said what everyone else already believes, that Pudge is NOT a good clubhouse guy. He pouts, he doesn’t follow the game plan, and unless he’s playing for a new contract he’s lazy. Amazing how quickly everyone forgets about his steroid involvement when he gets 4 hits against A-Ball pitching in the WBC. The Marlins wouldn’t pay Matt Treanor, a model citizen and excellent backup $750,000 to stay. Why should they pay Pudge Rodriguez anything more than that to come here and pout about not playing all the time. This team has good chemistry. I say, leave the steroid guy out of the chemistry. What say you?

WHy should we care about what the Astros Brass has to say about Pudge….how many World Series rings has Houston won in the past 20 years? As for “Pudge is NOT a good clubhouse guy. He pouts, he doesn’t follow the game plan, and unless he’s playing for a new contract he’s lazy” those all seem to be your own personal opinions of the man. None of that pouting and being a “bad clubhouse guy” semmed to matter in 2003 when he practically carried us to a World Series. When the guy has something to play for (I.E. proving to the rest of baseball he is still worthy of donning an MLB jersey) his level of play and intensity always rise to the occasion. In an “off” year he hit .273 while playing for 2 clubs in 2008 – while dealing with the death of his father.

All im saying is that if Baker were to get hurt for an extended period of time…who would you rather have behind the plate Mike Rabelo, Brett Hayes, or a 13 time gold-glove future HOF Pudge who seems to still have enough gas in the tank.

And we should all pretty much realize that most of the ball players were roided up…but he’s no Brady Anderson hitting 50 homers because of the injections…this is a man with a track record of success. Now i dont know if I want him behind the plate 5 days a week, but 1-2 games a week behind the plate doubled with a start at 1B and 3B a couple days a week could help this ball club on the defensive side and the offesive side.

And personally, in my opinion, i think chemistry is the most overated thing in sports. You either can play or you cant.

I think Pudge is done at this point
