Game Today

I'm going the wrong direction here as far as time goes.

The Marlins are playing the Cardinals once again and this time the Fish are the home team.

The Marlins starting pitcher is Chris Volstad.

The Cardinals will counter with Tod Wellemeyer.

The game started at 1:05 p.m.

In WBC action:

Pool B:

Mexico v. Australia, 10:00 p.m., MLB

Pool C:

Venezuela v. USA, 6:30 p.m. MLB

Pool D:

Netherlands v. Puerto Rico, 5:30 p.m., ESPN2

Pool B is an elimination game.  The other two games are seeding games.  Meaning both teams are moving on and they are just determining their respective seeds for the next round.

I am so late.

Have a Great Day!

GREAT NEWS!

Amezaga is out 4-6 weeks and Volstad took a liner off the body and was pulled from the game.

Awesome.

I am bothered by it

I understand if you’re from NY, you’ve got your team, whatever, but don’t make it a photo-op.

One problem is

that if you are a Mets fan, you are also a Jets fan. So what kind of a message is he sending here?

That is the problem with this community. Too many ex New Yorkers here. Garbage people from a garbage city with a garbage culture. And they are totally disloyal to their new community.

If the love NY so much, why don’t they move back.

On big lesson. Never hire anyone from NYC. They will stab you in the back. Guaranteed.

Mets Fan = Jets Fan = False.

I grew up in Central Jersey (and lets not go into the debate whether NJ is too small to have 3 distinct sections) so I was in between the third that claims its from NY and the third that claims PA.
Yes, I know a lot of mets fans that are jets fans, but there are just as many that are giants fans.

Also, I’m sorry, I love Miami. It’s a great city with beautiful weather in the winter. But the culture in NYC is 1000000x better than the culture down here. I know that may offend people here, but you don’t go to Miami to make a name for yourself in music, art, or acting and little havana has nothing on little italy, china town, broadway, etc. And, since this is a sports blog, their passion for their sports teams (on a citywide basis) is unrivaled by ours.

Rawr.

Nothing like generalizing a metropolitan area of nearly 20 million people.

NYC

I love the city and would move there in a heartbeat if I could ever talk the other half into it. It’s my adopted home away from home. But that doesn’t lessen my Marlins fandom. How can you blame anyone for being fan of any team? The idea that someone has to be loyal to their city because that’s where they get their paycheck is hokum. Doubly so for those city’s sports teams.

I actually like the Mets team. I root for them when they’re not playing the Marlins. If someone gave me the option of going and hanging out with them for a day, I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

Ya, I root for the Phillies too. What are you going to do.

Just to clarify

I agree with you 100%, I’ve lived in several different cities. I always try to support the home team, but I never gave up my childhood team (the Fish are the first hometown team I’ve truly become a fan of). But if I was in some high-level position with a Miami sports team, I wouldn’t be doing photo ops with the visiting teams of any sport. I just think it’s in bad taste and feeds into the vicious circle of fair-weather fandom in the MIA.
