Weekend Chum Bucket

It is the Weekend!  Woo Hoo!

I have no idea what is going on this weekend, other than FanFest, but I'm sure there is a lot of other good stuff happing too.

It is the normal Weekend Chum Bucket, so everything is fair game.  If you want to comment on the Marlins, baseball in general, other sports, movies, books about Travis McGee, etymology, entomology, any other -ology, etc.  Have at it.

But most importantly, Have a Great Weekend!

Email the commish (es)

Outside of fanfest they were urging people to email them and gave out there e-mails. Apparently there is a new group formed called “Coalition Against Marlins Bailout” and they are doing a bunch of public stuff this week like having a press conference outside of government center, appearing at the mayor’s address and a couple more things. So, if you get the time, send e-mails to the county commishioners telling them to vote for the stadium. Last I heard, we have 8 of the 9 needed… Their emails are simple… There are 12 of them, just email “”mailto:district1@miamidade.gov">district1@miamidade.gov" and then substitute the 1 for 2, 3, 4, etc…

I emailed them all.

I may go to the commission meetings this week.

Great/Not-so-Great

Hanley Ramirez is a tremendous athlete, but he really needs to improve his fielding, as he made the MLB ’08 All-Error Team: http://morehardball.blogspot.com/2009/02/stonehedge-butchers-all-error-team.html

two posts, two criticisms.

First the Nigel Wilson thing, now this. Is this going to be your M.O. here? Anything positive to say?

Yes

Sorry for seeming negative, and you’re right, that’s all I posted so far. So to answer your question, here is something positive- the Marlins remain a scary team despite cripling payroll and will probably surprise a lot of people this season.
