Notes from Spring Training
Joe Frisaro reports at his blog, The Fish Pond, that there is a uniform number change by a couple of the pitchers.
You will notice Anibal Sanchez is now wearing No. 19, which belonged to reliever Logan Kensing last year. Sanchez asked if Kensing wouldn't mind switching to another number. Kensing took No. 20,
Don't know who will claim number 36, but if you like me and have to watch the Marlins on a computer screen, the player's numbers are very important to the viewing experience. Though I think I could've easily figured out that Logan wasn't starting the game.

the oh so sacred 19....
does anybody else think we should maybe, possibly, perhaps even defintly retire #19? I hope you all understand why….that was Mr. Marlins. Being 22 I grew up on Conine and he is the only Marlins player with 2 rings….aside from Castillo but he wasnt in that 97 WS. Isnt Conine back with the team in some aspects, if so, what number is he wearing???
or 18
Conine wore both, actually.
I am the proud owner of a Jeff Conine authentic marlins jersey, autographed, and for some reason I think it is #19 but not sure off the top of my head. I found it Craig’s list… in North Carolina of all places – a google search turned it up. I had it for $50 bucks and then the jerk let somebody else make a bid and, also being 22, I couldn’t pass on the competition.
A bit of money later, I love wearing the jersey around and at one of the fanfest activities even had kids asking me for my autograph (oh 10 year olds, learn your marlins history!!! I look nothing like niner or a professional baseball player). Matt Lindstrom actually told me to sign autographs for fun…
