Weekend Chum Bucket
Ah, it is the weekend a time to relax. At least it is for those of us who don't have a dog in the hunt.
Saturday, at this point in time, is mainly about college football. The teams still in it are jockeying for bowl position and hopefully your favorite one is still in that mix. My favorite one is working on a perfect season, but not in a good way. However if Rice is your favorite team, as it is mine, you have learned to live with it by now. Speaking of college teams, if you start commenting on the Ohio State game, GameFish will probably jump in. My advice to you is not to be adamantly cheering for Iowa, unless you are from there or went to school there. Just a word to the wise.
Of course, of the Florida teams that are in play I am cheering for each and everyone of them. It is kinda nice to be free of the in state rival thing. But in state rivals is something I completely understand since there are schools I actively root against, though none of them are from Florida.
Completely off topic, I watched a dart tournament last night, yes I have no life, but that is not the point. While it was amazing to see what the participants could do with a dart, the person who was most impressive was a guy from the Netherlands, which caused me to wonder, is VandenHurk any good at darts?
Anyways, this is the Weekend Open Thread where if you want to talk about sports, that is cool. However should you want to take about books, movies, music, paintings or anything else, this is the place. If you want to talk about the meaning of the third order condition of the Hamiltonian as it pertains to economics, I'm all ears.
See, there is all sorts of fun to be had.
Have a Great Weekend!

Man, you guys are missing the best follege game of the weekend!
Fresno State and the nations leading rusher Ryan Matthews are taking on Nevada and the nation leading 340 ypg rushing attack! Nevada has almost 3 players averaging 100 yards rushing a game, has 7 players averaging over 6 ypc, and has 3 of the nations top 10 in YPC, including number 1 in QB Colin Kaepernick. and number 4 Vai Taua If Luke Lippencott has one more big game this year, Nevada is on the verge of being the first team to ever have 3 1000 rushers in the same season.

Oh yes,
Also forgot it’s the inaugural game of the 2009-10 basketball season for 2008 HS All-American Luke Babbitt(Ohio State decommitt) and the Nevada Wolf Pack tonight! Babbitt stayed at home last season to lead Nevada to a second place finish in the WAC and WAC Freshman of the Year honors. Nevada will be playing Montana State tonight. I will be at both games today for a Wolf Pack double header.

Fresno State got a mudhole stomped in them...
Nevada scored 45 straight points to win 52-14. Took out Ryan Matthews and it was ALL over then. They kept driving to the red zone, only to turn it over on downs or fumble it. Over 600 yards of offense, and only scored 14 points. Then again, Boise had that same problem with Idaho yesterday, they got outgainined by Idaho, yet forced 7 TO’s. That collision course is black friday up in Boise this year for the WAC title. Last time Nevada played there, it was Kaepernick’s first ever start and Nevada lost 67-69 in 4OT.

Missouri (where I go to school) up-ended Kansas State today
Which further confounds the Big 12 North standings, where literally every team is in the race for the trip to the Big 12 Title Game…where that team will get absolutely destroyed by Texas.
There isn’t a more pathetic sub-conference in all of college football than the Big 12 North….

If I remember correctly...
don’t strange things sometimes happen in the Big 12 Championship game?

They do, but for one of these mediocre teams to beat Texas is asking for 2007 Stanford over USC to happen

pretty funny
Stanford just destroyed USC 55-21… IN USC again… it’s about time they had a year where they won’t be at the top of the polls crying for a BCS berth finally.

It's the worst lost in USC history, and it's awesome

I always thought it was funny how lopsided the Big 12 is division wise
Ever since Nebraska stopped being good the championship game has been a joke, except for those couple of upsets that have happened. That 70-3 win Texas had over Colorodo a couple years ago pretty much sums it up for me.

BA says he's a top end of the rotation type guy.
Thank God! I’m just surprised Jake Smolinski, Bryan Peterson, Brad Hand, and Jose Ceda aren’t on that list! I know they only show ten players, but I think those guys are better prospects than Issac Galloway and Jhan Martinez. And even though Jose Ceda was hurt all season, I still think if he heals well, he’ll be the closer of the future.

Don't know about Ceda being a closer...
but then again I’m often wrong. It is so hard to predict young player, or at least it is for me.

What ever happened to Ryan Tucker being the closer of the future?
by tdp992 on Nov 14, 2009 11:20 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
When we traded for Jose Ceda, he was regarded as the closer of the future and Ryan Tucker as his set-up man. That is until he got hurt.
But like I was saying, if he heals 100%, there’s no reason to think he can’t be that guy again…

I still like ceda if he heals well

That's cause Ceda missed out the entire year.
BA also has Dan Uggla as our 3rd baseman in 2012. We all know that’s not gonna happen.
