Mike Stanton shut down
Joe Capozzi is reporting that the Marlins have shut down Mike Stanton in the AFL.
Right-fielder Michael Stanton’s Arizona Fall League season is over. The Marlins shut him down because of a sore back.
"It’s nothing major. It’s just a sore back," said Jim Fleming, the Marlins’ player development director.
Stanton, the Marlins’ top prospect, is expected to be ready and pain-free when spring training starts in February at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.
Stanton, 19, was leading all players in the AFL with a .478 batting average. He was replaced on the Mesa roster by Greg Burns.
Better safe than sorry.

Mike Stanton on in relief...
Wait! How many Mike Stantons are there in the game now? I lost track.
I remember William Michael Stanton and his two stints with the Natinals as a LOOGY.
I also remember Michael Thomas Stanton when he pitched for Seattle, serving up the cookie that Dan Ford tagged for his 3rd HR of the game for the Orioles.
I can’t deal with the fact that this kid is not a pitcher. Maybe they can convert him and all will be right with the world?
When the roof happens, it will rain.
