I've always wondered what made people decide on the demenisons of the diamond.
Like how the mound is 60’6" away from home and how much of a different game it would be if the mound were any closer. If the basepaths were maybe 2 yards longer we could guess how useless a bunt would seem and how many less hits there would be.
bunts already seem pretty useless
But that has more to do with outfield fences than it does with home to first
