Ivan Rodriguez not returning to the Marlins
Apparently, Ivan Rodriguez will have to look for employment elsewhere.
"Our payroll has gone up significantly and I would say we are set," said Samson, who put at "zero" any chance the Marlins would sign ex-All-Star catcher Pudge Rodriguez, squelching rumors.
Not signing Pudge really doesn't bother me at all, but does the above statement mean we are going with Rabelo as the backup? I truly hope not.
Surely the Marlins can start checking behind the couch cushions and come up with enough money for someone better.

The payroll's gone up significantly?
By, like, what? $3 million?
I guess the good news is that it means they’ll give up on their annual snipe hunt for the Perfect, Affordable Veteran Catcher. You know, the one that nearly stuck us with Yorvit Torrealba last year.
I guess that’s a big vote of confidence for John Baker, and I’m delighted about that.

A longshot but...
…could this be Marlins playing hardball in an attempt to lower Pudge’s price as he gets more desperate to play?
But yeah, if that’s not the case, why was Rabelo not sent to AAA and Treanor kept if they wanted to grab Kroenke…
