The Marlins will once again have a bunch of players participating in the WBC.
Florida's biggest marquee attraction this year is All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who will be participating on the Dominican Republic squad. Closer Matt Lindstrom will represent Team USA. Mexico's squad will feature all-purpose Alfredo Amezaga and third baseman Jorge Cantu. Venezuela will have a couple of Marlins pitchers, starter Anibal Sanchez and reliever Renyel Pinto. The Netherlands' roster includes right-hander Rick VandenHurk, who would have also taken part in 2006, if not for an injury. I completely understand why the players are willing and take pride in representing their respective countries. However, being of the selfish type myself, I would rather have them in camp and not playing in an exhibition tournament. But since they have signed on to play, all I can ask is: No one get hurt! And I guess, also, that they have a great time wearing the colors of the respective country. Good luck guys!
