Zephyrs name Edwin Rodriguez manager

Florida Marlins Triple-A affiliate, New Orleans Zephyrs, have a named their manager.

While celebrating the new year with a new affiliation with the Florida Marlins, the Zephyrs announced Wednesday that they have a new manager in Edwin Rodriguez.

A former infielder who spent parts of three seasons with the Yankees and Padres, Rodriguez, 48, has spent the past two seasons as manager of the Class A Greensboro Grasshoppers in the South Atlantic League. He compiled a record of 66-72 in 2008 and was 71-69 in 2007. Before that, he spent two seasons as the manager of the Marlins' Gulf Coast League affiliate and was the hitting coach for Class AA Carolina in 2004.

The rest of the coaching staff will be announced in the next few weeks.
