In the wild card standings the Marlins passed the Cardinals last night and if the Fish win tonight, they will be tied with the Astros.  All of a sudden that leaping over four teams thing is looking more and more doable.  The Brewers are dropping like a rock and should come back to the Marlins pretty soon, unless they right the ship.  Which they are showing no signs of doing, and Sheets being shutdown isn't going to help.  Then all that is left to do is finish second the NL East and the Marlins still have games left to play against both of the front runners.  For it all to work, the Fish have to keep winning, which brings us to tonight.

Breakout the brooms Florida because the Marlins are going for their second consecutive sweep -- also win number eight in-a-row.

Olsen actually got a win his last time out.  Scottie hasn't pitched badly it is just that he hasn't gotten any help.  In fact, in order to get his first win in over a month all it took was him giving up only one run.  Which was good because the Marlins only scored two.

Arias is making his second start of his major league career.  He has mainly been used a long relief guy during his brief career in the bigs.  But his first, which was against Pittsburgh, went very will.  He went 5 innings giving up only 2 hits and striking out 6.  He did give up 3 walks, however.  Arias has never pitched against the Marlins in any capacity.

Ichthyomancy has its broom in hand.  Best of Luck to You!

AAB Change

That AAB is so last night…. let’s go with….final score looks like a Dolphins/Texans game instead of a Marlins/Astros game. Craig, I’ll let you subjectively determine if that is the case.

Stadium

Aint been around in a while, but I thought I’d drop some good news… The Supreme Court has decided in the team’s favor (though obviously not directly for the team, but it affects us nonetheless). There is no vote required because it would upend the entire state financial system. Check it out here: http://www.miamiherald.com/459/story/691573.html.

There’s essentially no room for appeal either because it would be asking the court to examine the same exact issue. They wouldn’t even here the case. Holler

Baker rules!

Marlins take the lead!

Do you think the Marlins will now consider Baker as a solid starter and longtime option, or will they still be looking to add a veteran? Wouldn’t it be nice to remove catcher from the list of offseason pressing needs?

Maybin

This Maybin fellow seems to be a pretty good ball player…
