Joe Nelson revisited

According to Clark Spencer of the Miami Hearld, it wasn't Fredi who suggested that Joe Nelson go with the higher leg kick -- it was Mark Wiley.

Reliever Joe Nelson is expected to be available Tuesday when the Marlins open a three-game series against the Houston Astros.

Nelson started the ninth inning Sunday, trying to protect a two-run lead, but he left with two outs because of a cramp in his left leg. Nelson said the cramp developed after pitching coach Mark Wiley visited the mound and told him he needed to elevate his leg.

The instruction helped Nelson get two outs, but it also led to the cramp.

And that actually makes more sense.  Wiley knows pitching and what works.  Now, the goal is to get Joe limber enough to do what he needs to be effective.
