Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Mets (8/8)
Miami Marlins at New York Mets, Aug 8, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
The Marlins head to Shea Stadium to face the Mets. The good news is that the Marlins will miss Johan Santana during the three-game set. The Mets are having some pitching difficulties with John Maine and Billy Wagner recently being placed on the DL.
Nolasco has the stuff to shut any team down. The key for him is being able to spot his fastball in order to make the breaking pitches more effective. And, oh, keep the ball in the park. In his last start against the Mets, Ricky pitched 6 innings and only gave up 2 ER.
Perez is kinda a mixed bag this season, there are times he has been brilliant and other times not so much. But recently he has been brilliant with the one exception of his last start in Houston which really wasn't all that bad considering he was pitching in Minute Maid. He gave up 4 runs in 6 innings on 8 hits. The last time he face the Marlins he gave up only 1 run in 6 innings on 5 hits. Perez is a lefty.
Ichthyomancy is most definitely ready for Friday. Best of Luck to You!

“And his name…is DAN UGGLA!!!”
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
He's pretty much washed-up.
Seems to have no bat-speed left, though I suppose he can still call a game.
I’m getting to really like John Baker. I’m not sure if this means Baker gets sent down, or if Lo Duca is an insurance policy in case Treanor can’t play through the injury.
Why?
Why are the beers so big at Shea
Why do I see teal Met jerseys (not the ushers) when I can’t get a teal Conine jersey
Why isn’t Hanley stealing second with 2 outs on the first, or second, 3-2 count
Damn it!
