Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Braves (8/28)
Florida Marlins @ Atlanta Braves
The Marlins are finishing up the road trip tonight and are looking not only to winning the final series but have a winning road trip. It hasn't felt like it could be a winning road trip has it? But it is true.
Sanchez will be making his sixth start of the season. His last start went 6.1 innings and would've been a quality start had the bullpen not allowed every inherited runner to score. As it was, he was charged with four runs. Anibal is starting to get more efficient in his starts cutting down on walks though hits are still a bit of problem but most of them are just singles to batters who get stranded.
Morton is one of those young stuff guys. You know them, we have a lot in the minors. He can throw excellent stuff but he can't he always control it. He will either go about seven innings or will be lucky to get through three. Needless to say, walks can be a problem for him.
If you noticed from last night, the Ichthyomancy table was placed below the fold, so to speak. That is where it will be in the near future so it doesn't push everything off the front page as readily. The option of putting it below the fold, so to speak, is just recently available. I guess the tech guys at SBN didn't like our table. Go figure.
Anyway, Ichthyomancy is ready to win its second series in-a-row. Best of Luck to You!

I conceded on my picks a long time ago. Just was way too far back from the get to.
On the other hand, I am so GD excited for our pitching next year. A full year of healthy young pitching is unreal. JJ, Volstad, Anibal, Olsen?, Mitre/Miller? I cannot wait. That is one stellar rotation the likes of which the league has never seen before. Well, maybe that’s exaggerating a bit. but who cares. Vamos!!
Waiting for the 2009 season to start is more exciting than football down here right now. But hey, maybe we can still win the division this year….

Hahaha, Chuck Carr, there’s a blast from the past. I can hardly remember anyone else from the ‘93 team. Junior Felix? Bryan Harvey? Trevor Hoffman (for part of the year)? Um…Charlie Hough? Pat Rapp? Bret Barberie? That’s about it.

Conine!
Can’t forget Conine.
However, you can forget Orestes Destrade, Jack Armstrong, Scott Pose, Darrell Whitmore, etc.
I didn’t even realize until I checked it out, but the inaugural Fish did not lose 100 games…in fact they, even finished ahead of the Mets that year. Lachemann-mania!

Conine! Wow
How did I forget Mr. Marlin.
I thought of Chris Hammond in the shower earlier, and Robb Nen, and I believe Dave Magadan. Wow these guys bring back good memories, even if they had a poor few seasons together.

Does that mean...
If Craig doesn’t have a happy birthday, then you don’t get your AAB?

did anyone else notice,
how frequently we lose badly to back-of-the-rotation pitchers? The Fish seem to be able to rough up the big guns, but then the uknown guys with 5-plus ERAs shut them down.
