Hanley Ramirez doubtful for today's game
Hanley Ramirez was injured trying to steal second.
Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez was replaced in the fourth inning on Wednesday night, an inning after he appeared to jam his right thumb while stealing second base.
The Marlins said Ramirez has a right thumb contusion. He is listed as day-to-day.
An X-ray on Ramirez's thumb came back negative, and manager Fredi Gonzalez said it is 50/50 that the shortstop will play on Thursday.
Let me help you out here, in case you need it, contusion translates into he bruised his thumb. While that may sound trivial, it isn't. Sure, he should recover quickly but in the meantime it will affect his grip on the bat until he heals.
So while the Marlins are waiting for him to recover, assuming he doesn't play today, Alfredo Amezaga will handle the short stop duties. Amezaga is a better defensive short stop than Hanley, but when it comes to hitting -- not so much.
Ramirez should be back soon, if not today.

Hanley
I was watching the game live and all I can say is thank jesus that wasn’t a broken finger. It looked like he jammed his thumb on the base while stealing the bag, but I was relieved to see it was the baseball that hit his hand. This is gonna hurt in the short-term, but atleast he’ll be back after a day or two.
