Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, Go for Gold

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh are going for Olympic gold once again.

...the defending gold medalists easily defeated Renata and Talita 21-12, 21-14 for their 107th consecutive victory and the guarantee of at least a silver.

---

Walsh and May-Treanor will play top-seeded Tian Jia and Wang Jie, who beat the other Chinese team of Xue Chen and Zhang Xi 22-24, 29-27, 15-8 in a grueling, 1 hour and 14 minutes.

If you wondering why Tian and Wang are seeded first, there is a homer rule in the Olympics about the host team getting the first seed.  It is not that they deserve it, even though they are a good team it is just a courtesy.

Also in case you were wondering about the tattoo on Misty's shoulder, it is a tribute to her mom.

May-Treanor’s mother, who died of cancer in 2002, was in the middle of chemotherapy when she went to Sydney to see her daughter finish fifth in the 2000 games. Barbara May didn’t live long enough to see Misty win the gold medal in Athens.

She was there anyway, May-Treanor said, both in her physical remains and in the form of an angel she tattooed on her shoulder in her mother’s memory.

The gold metal match will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 p.m.

remains

Am I reading it wrong, or did Misty say she took the remains of her mom to Athens with her?
