The Marlins get to start anew tonight and are visiting the Padres.

The nice thing about going to San Diego is that we get to see our old friends from Gaslamp Ball.  Sure, if you need a Padres pocket schedule, they aren't the guys to count on but they always bring beer to the parties.  So you take what you can.  If you are an old timer here at FishStripes, go by and Hi, I'm sure they would love to see you.  If you are new, go introduce yourself, they are good people.  A little crazy, but good nonetheless.

Now on to tonight's game.

Nolasco takes the hill for the Marlins and it is about time.  Ricky has been on a roll of late and with any luck at all it will continue.  If all the stuff is working, he should shut the Padres down.  If it isn't, he can't be any worse than what we witnessed from the starters in Colorado.

Maddux....why doesn't he just retire and take his place in the Hall of Fame?  I mean really, what does he have left to prove?    The weird thing is that Maddux hasn't won in his last 10 starts, not that he has pitched badly but the wins aren't falling into place for him.

FishStripers, Midnight Baseball is back!

Ichthyomancy is ready to go, but still hates Monday.  Best of Luck to You!

Now I havent Been around this weekend cause it was just too depressing, but has there Been any talk of kevin greggs termination of some sort. Ive been saying he’s awful for a little while but unfortunately mgmt doesn’t hear me. This is reminding me of the jorge julio experiment which essentially killed our season. I’m hoping gregg doesn’t do the same thing, though he has almost singlehandedly kept us out of the division lead. It seems mgmt doesn’t know the meaning of a sunk cost. Any news/insight would be appreciated.

Educated Guess: if the marlins have to open their books, it will just prove everything the owners have been saying about how little profit they make. Oh, and it will make Huzienga look like a j/a for how much he takes from the team through that lease agreement.

oh oh oh

The best part of playing the Marlins is the Ichthyo!!! Dollar off beers for every homegame in July if you want to take that into account for attendances. Anway.

Thank you Gonzalez, don't let him walk you.

Do you think Treanor’s injury forces the marlins to make a move for a catcher before the all star break?

by jrsyeagle on Jul 8, 2008 12:32 AM EDT reply actions

I hope not.....

as anyone said how badly he was hurt?

by craig on Jul 8, 2008 12:35 AM EDT up reply actions

no but he was clearly in pain

on the walk off the field and just sitting on the bench. He was holding his hip/groin and grimacing pretty bad. I guess we know how that visit with Misty went…

By the way, does anyone know if there’s news on at this time in Miami? Looks like a big fire in the Little Havana area…

by jrsyeagle on Jul 8, 2008 12:37 AM EDT up reply actions

no

but maybe the the piles of rubble that are keeping the ground warm there…

oh well, work early, hooray for victory
