The Marlins are going for series win tonight and with any luck, they have the Mets fans leaving by the fifth inning.  That "leaving by the fifth inning" part, probably isn't going to happen, but it could.

Olsen had some bad results in his last start, though he didn't pitch poorly. He unfortunately gave up the long ball at some very inopportune times.  Also the defense didn't exactly pitch-in when it should've.  Ollie normally does his best work at home and if he can keep the ball in the stadium, he should do fine.

Perez has been on a roll of late allowing no more than two earned runs in each of his last five starts.  He is a strikeout pitcher but when his is tagged the ball leaving the park isn't unheard of.  Perez is a lefty and is mainly a fastball, slider type of pitcher.  Jacobs probably won't start for the Fish tonight.

Ichthyomancy is ready for the second Monday of the week.  Best of Luck to You!

Also, here’s what MLB Trade Rumors has to say about the Marlins’ search for a lefty reliever and catcher: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/marlins-looki-1.html

oh, and...

Does anyone else find it kind of embarrassing that Mike Jacobs gets benched for his defense late in games? Since when do first basemen get benched for defense? “Sorry Jake, you’re not standing there well enough.”

Jacobs didn’t get benched for defense, he got benched because it was a lefty pitcher, just like he most likely won’t start tonight because its a lefty…

Well,

then maybe not last night in particular, but he’s frequently benched in late innings for defensive reasons.

Not that being benched for a matchup is much better…you don’t generally see dependable sluggers yanked because a lefty comes in.

About your AAB pick of 2+ XBH.....

it really isn’t above and beyond. The Marlins are averaging 3.36 XBH per game and since you are in the lead you don’t get the luxury of lax picks.

If you want to drop the the “plus sign”, the pick will be fine in the future. Or you could bump it up to say 4-plus XBH.

Your pick of 2+ XBH will count today, but not in the future.

Thanks and Good Luck!
