Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Cubs (7/25)
Florida @ Chicago
(Note: Sorry about the lack of posts today, but it couldn't be avoided.)
The Marlins are looking to even the series in what will be our first day game of three in-a-row in this series.
Johnson hasn't recorded a decision since coming off Tommy John surgery. Though he has pitched well enough to do so, The good news is that the Marlins have won both of his starts. The bad news is the Fish haven't scored very many runs while he was on the hill. Johnson is still, probably, on a strict pitch count of no more than 100 pitches.
Former Marlin Ryan Dempster will take the mound for the Cubbies. You remember Dempster and his "breakout" season when he was an All-Star in 2000. Of course he never played in the game but he was selected nonetheless. It's good to see Ryan having success again as a starter, however, if he would like to throw a clunker, I'm all for it.
Ichthyomancy is pretending like it is ready. Best of Luck to You!

in case you couldn't tell, i spend a lot of time online... looking at baseball...
especially at the trade deadline:
The marlins are purportedly really trying to get arthur rhodes from Seattle… no clue what the asking price is but I know they are competing heavily with the mets for him…
Also, Gregg Zaun is a potential target…

AAB: Volstad > 3 runs
by breckenridge55 on Jul 26, 2008 12:24 PM EDT 0 recs
I know this is kind of late. But I’m all about pro-Marlins picks here. I think I wrote that the wrong way. It’s supposed to say Volstad allows less than three runs. If I can’t pick up the point its understandable… at least I know for my own purposes that Chris Volstad is the next real thing!

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
