Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Braves at Marlins (7/22)
Atlanta Braves at Miami Marlins, Jul 22, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
Well, isn't that special the stats thingy gave us the Incredible Hurk's batting stats. Go figure.
Anyway, the Marlins are looking to even the series tonight.
VandenHurk is, hopefully, making his triumphant return to the majors. Rick has talent and will get to see whether his has fine tuned game while in the minors. Assuming everything goes reasonably well, this could be his first of two starts for the Fish.
Morton is a 24 year-old rookie who I know absolutely nothing about, except for the fact he is right-handed and has never pitched past six innings in the majors. This will be his seventh major league start.
Ichthyomancy is ready to try this winning thing once again. Best of Luck to You!

I cannot stand the marlins batting against rookie pitchers.
Crapola.
Completely forgot to make my picks. I curse the world!

and if late AABs are accepted, Marlins go ahead to win in 8th or 9th.
At game tonight...
Long time no post…Great game obviously, amazing pitching and Jacobs had a clutch homer to not only put an end to a no hitter, but put three big runs on the board. One thing I still can’t get over is how Vanden Hurk was removed from the game in the middle of a no hitter. Not only that, but he batted just before he was removed. At the game I assumed he hurt himself running to first on his sacrifice bunt…but it appears it was his pitch count. It worked out well, but as a fan I was disappointed. Going the distance was out of the question, but I would have given him at least another inning.
Perfect night for baseball. The Marlins are positioned for a dream season if they can find some magic from the pitchers.
