The Marlins are going for the series win tonight.

Hendrickson hasn't been very good of late...and I'm being kind.  Hopefully he will right the ship and go at least 6 innings while also keeping the Fish in the game.  I could rehash his latest stats, but why?  You lived through them.  You saw them.

Balester is making his major league debut.  I don't know anything about him other than he is righty and the Nationals think highly of him.

Ichthyomancy is sorta, kinda ready for Tuesday.  Best of Luck to You!

fish bullpen gives up exactly 1 run.

I’m almost tempted to pick the nats pitcher cause recently promoted guys always kill us.
And why oh why must management continue to make the same mistakes this year as last year in force feeding us one of our most expensive pitchers when he clearly is not the best option at closer.

Who'd replace Gregg?

Gardner, Owens and Lindstrom are all hurt. I’m not sold on Gregg, either, but who’s the best replacement?

by Fishcrazy on Jul 1, 2008 11:44 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess Joe Nelson, but put me in the “Gregg is probably still the best option right now” boat.

P.S. It looks like there’s a change we might go after the ol’ manatee David Weathers. Here’s the link.

We could use the pen help, but I feel like we need another lefty, since Pinto can’t throw strikes. If we don’t go after one, we can expect to see Tank back with the club soon.

dang.

bases loaded against the rookie and we blew it. that hurts.

Hanley

He’s a beastly man-child from outer space… he makes our silly human baseball game look easy.

Let me put on the ol’ swami hat…. Hammer will homer again.

Hanley...

is earning his All-Star votes at the plate!

Hendrickson, on the other hand, is in his last days….i imagine he has to be out of the rotation soon with Johnson coming back

by hoyamarlin on Jul 1, 2008 9:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yep

To the pen he goes. That’s a place he could actually be mildly effective.

it’s off with the television. Good night.

Jacobs

one player i don’t think we’ll sign in arbitration this year… definitely trade bait

by jrsyeagle on Jul 1, 2008 9:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I tend to agree....

but the only problem is: he is driving his value right into the ground

by craig on Jul 1, 2008 9:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No way.

Who wouldn’t want a first baseman who strikes out a lot, can’t hit for average, goes into prolonged slumps and is mediocre defensively?

by Fishcrazy on Jul 1, 2008 10:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

what happened?

despite living in DC, the games not on television…what did Jacobs do?

by hoyamarlin on Jul 1, 2008 9:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

with bases loaded

fielded a one hopper and makes a throw to the plate that Manute Bol would have trouble reaching – run scores

by dgriot on Jul 1, 2008 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hermida

with those 2 runs tho...

Jacobs error all the worse

by hoyamarlin on Jul 1, 2008 10:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

bleh.

New rule:

“Hendrickson somewhat less awful” is now worth 2 points as an AAB.

by Fishcrazy on Jul 1, 2008 10:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bright spot?

At least our offense is battling back and showing some signs of resiliency, it just so happens that the pitching is just so terrible sometimes it’s not enough to overcome.

Schmendrake-son just put us in a terrible hole, nevermind the awfulness that is Mike Jacobs in the field.

Remember that Hendo is our #5 starter at this point (Nolasco, Miller, Olsen, Tucker, Caca McGee), so those #5 games are kind of a wash, where you need the offense to pull you through. Just didn’t happen tonight. Bleck.
