Cody Ross almost didn't play on Saturday

Cody Ross almost missed the chance to hear his name chanted and the cow bells ringing .

Cody Ross almost didn't get a chance to hit his game-winning home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday night.

During pre-game batting practice, Ross was running in the outfield when he was drilled on the inside of his right calf by a line drive from Ramirez.

"I had to come in and get treatment. I didn't know if I was going to be able to play" he said.

Ross wore a medicated bandage on the calf muscle Sunday. He went 1-for-3 with a double.

Don't we have enough players on the DL without add more in batting practice?  Then again, maybe Cody will want to consider wearing a medicated bandage every game.

All kidding aside, Cody is hot and when he is hot he can carry the team and he should be starting every game.  I mean let's face it, Jacque Jones isn't getting it done at the plate and I do understand that one can't breakout of a slump sitting on the bench.  But hot streaks and slumps don't last forever and the Marlins should ride Cody's streak while they can.
