Lee Gardner is out for the season

Lee Gardner made the dreaded trip to Alabama and joined Dr. Andrews' team .

RHP Lee Gardner, one of Florida's most effective relievers in 2007, underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Tuesday.

Gardner, 33 had been on the disabled list since April 18 because of right elbow inflammation. But while trying to come back, he developed right shoulder problems.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews repaired a torn labrum and rotator cuff, and Gardner will not throw for at least six months.

He is done for the season and soon to be on the 60-day DL.
