This probably should be filed in the: You got to be kidding me section of FishStripes.
It turns out that Jamie Moyer was upset that he thought he didn't cause enough pain when he plunked Jeremy Hermida .
Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer told a Philadelphia reporter Sunday that he was upset that Jeremy Hermida, whom he hit with a pitch, wore protective armor on his elbow. ''If you get hit on the elbow, you don't feel it when you have armor on,'' Moyer said. ``He goes to first base and probably doesn't even have ice on it after the game. You are supposed to have a medical reason to wear it.'' Problem: Hermida doesn't wear armor on his arm. ''I wear a sock,'' Hermida said. ``It's just one of those things pitchers wear, those little sleeves. I just wear it to keep my arm loose.'' Hermida said he cuts the toe out of one of his black athletic socks and slips it over his elbow.
What a jerk!
Moyer bats and if he feels that he ought to inducing pain, I'm sure the Marlins pitchers will be more than happy to reciprocate. And believe me, the Marlins pitchers throw a lot harder than Moyer.
Something gives me the idea that the Marlins and the Phillies may reintroduce throwing at each other later in the season. Not that they should.
But given the fact that the Phillies pitchers, or at least Moyer, are sadistic, the Fish will be more than happy to reply in kind.
My recommendation to Moyer is: don't dig in at the plate, the Fish have been known to hit pitchers.
