Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Rays at Marlins (6/25)
Tampa Bay @ Florida
The Marlins are looking to even the series and hopefully tonight they won't gift wrap the game with a pretty bow on top and just give it to the Rays.
Tucker will place his young talented self on the mound and see if he can pitch two good games in-a-row. Tucker has faced the Rays before and frankly didn't do all that well against them. Giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. Maybe he learned something from that outing. Tucker has stuff, it is just a matter of fine tuning it.
Shields is going through a rough patch for him. His last win came on May 9th. Shields is a all or nothing pitcher. He strikes out a ton of batters but if he leaves his pitches up they tend to leave the ballpark.
There was much more I wanted to write about today, but I'm so out of time.
Ichthyomancy is looking for action. Best of Luck to Everyone!

Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

Question about baseball in general. Who’s responsible for a runner on by fielder’s choice? In last nights game Pinto loaded the bases. He’s obviously on the hook for those 3, but then we got the two outs at home on FCs. Those two would have been Pintos. So what happens if the next guy gets the grand slam? An ER for Pinto and 3 ER for Nelson?

So on the bright side...
we only committed one error (passed ball) in the process of allowing those 10 runs….and…well…thats all i got.

All this proves ...
Tampa Bay can hit two minor league pitchers.

er...sorry to rain on your positivity.
something to think about:
June 6 – Reds 11, Marlins 3
June 7 – Marlins 8, Reds 7
May 30 – Phillies 12, Marlins 3
Mary 31 – Marlins 7, Phillies 3
April 2 – Mets 13, Marlins 0
April 4 – Marlins 5, Pirates 4
In all, the Marlins are 6-3 the game after losing by 6 runs or more.
Rebound time!!

the Rays' jersey logo
What’s up with the little star thing? Are they trying to suggest that “Rays” now refers to rays of light and not the cartilaginous fish?
by Fishcrazy on Jun 25, 2008 9:37 PM EDT 0 recs
Yes...
They thought devil was too offensive, so they switched to Rays and became a ray of light.

I knew they dropped the 'Devil,'
but I didn’t know they changed the entire meaning of the name.
They couldn’t have just settled for Sting Rays, or is it still too soon?

I don't get it
Why do they still have a ray (the kind that killed Steve Irwin) on there sleeve?
