Open Thread and Ichthyomancy: Marlins at Athletics (6/22)
Miami Marlins at Oakland Athletics, Jun 22, 2008 4:05 PM EDT
The Marlins are not only going for the series win today, but also a winning road trip. If this game stays true to form of the other two in this series, it should be an entertaining game to watch.
This should be interesting with Miller taking the hill against the A's. Even on Miller's best day he is still kinda all over the place. The A's have shown they know how to work at bats into a favorable count. Miller's last two starts were outstanding allowing only 1 run in each and going 7 innings in both. Andrew is probably the only Marlins starter who does better in day games than in night.
Duchscherer was equally outstanding in his last two starts. Giving up only 1 run in each and going 7 and 8 innings respectively. He doesn't do as well in day games this year posting a crappy, by his standards, 3.86 ERA. Duchscherer has never faced the Marlins.
Alfredo will be given the day off to help him recover from his groin tightness.
Ichthyomancy is ready for the usual Sunday day game. Best of Luck to You!

A. Miller and J. Miller both pitch, give up 3 or fewer ER combined

Is the game going to be on FSN today?
Right now they’re showing the Stros and Rays and it’s only the 6th inning…

missed a golden opportunity today
Philly lost, and if we could’ve won today we would’ve been in a tie for first in the NLE.

What did Rabelo have for breakfast?
He was asleep today!
Points
The attendance for the game was 22,461. The attendance point goes to Little Nicky.
Players earning a point: Hermida, Jacobs and Ross.
Unfortunately no one choose either of these.
AAB points: and here too, sadly, no one’s pick crossed the plate.
Recap:
Little Nicky +1
Congratulations to Little Nicky! If I missed anyone or anything, please let me know.
Since nobody chose any of the above for PotG
Couldn’t we just use the blowout rule?
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; but if a thing is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.
